Year-End Reflection of a Type 6: The Committee Has to Go

As a Type 6, I took some time at the end of the year to reflect:

What am I ready to let go of from the past year —and what do I consciously want to invite into 2026?

A small comparison from the world of the Enneagram:

Type 1 is known for having an inner judge. That judge reliably comments on 80–90% of the day —either with standing ovationsor with merciless self-criticism.

Type 6, on the other hand …

has no judge, but an entire committee in the head.

With a chairperson, opposing voices, safety officers, a worst-case department, and at least one voice constantly asking:

“Yes, but what if…?”

Things are discussed.

They are questioned.

There is disagreement.

And sometimes decisions are postponed because not all members have agreed yet.

That can be helpful — after all, a team is meant to decide.

But… not all the time.

So here is my official announcement:

I am dismissing my inner committee as of December 31, 2025.

All doors and windows are opened.

Fresh air in.

Old baggage out.

And for the new year, I am inviting a new guest:

a Type 9 guru. There is a lot I can learn from his qualities.

He listens patiently.

He remains calm in his inner Om.

He embodies ease and groundedness.

And — most importantly —he doesn’t overanalyze everything, but trusts his gut feeling.

In this spirit:

Here’s to less mental noise and more inner calm in the new year.

And maybe, as the year comes to an end, you’d like to ask yourself too:

Which inner voice in me is ready to soften —and which inner quality would I like to give more space to in the year ahead?
